It's reinforced all the time in movies and TV. I mean, when's the last time you saw a TV series about an "intrepid online producer" or a "tenacious Web developer"? We new media types tend to stereotype older folks as being the ones who are close-minded about the Web and alternative storytelling formats. The sad reality is that many journalism students --who you'd think would be a bit more progressive-- often are the most ignorant and close-minded of all. The news industry -- and newspapers -- are so far beyond newspapers. We don't need anymore newspaper men. We need news men (and women). We need people who are willing to report in the formats that people want.
