To editors: Spend more time with the marketing folks than the ad folks. The marketing folks are now doing their jobs, PLUS support for sales. 

If anything, ask sales about your section. Go through the list of folks who advertise in your print section and ask them why they advertise there. 

Just. Break. Down. Silos. In. Your. News. Organization.</description>
